Angela Alioto can beat Newsom now(no shit, Sherlock)
It’s not often that we get a chance to repeat the past. It’s not often that we get a chance to repeat the past. It’s not often that we get a chance to repeat the past.
You getting the idea? Well, what Angela Alioto wanted more than anything in 2003 was the opportunity to run head-to-head against Gavin Newsom. Experience and brains against the cardboard cut-out? Wudda been a slam-dunk.
Why not now?
Joe’s girl wouldn’t have to deal with Gonzalez this time. Or, Leal. Or, Ammiano. Or any serious lefty opposition. It only requires that she come back from Rome a few days early and file the papers by 5pm Friday. She’s already scheduled back next Monday to be in Vegas for the birth of a grandchild to eldest, Adolfo. I’ve already emailed this plea to her and I’m putting this out to my ‘A’ list for responses. Anyone want to work for Angela against Gavin?
Ballot committee co-opted?
When Tony Hall tried to run a charter amendment a few years back called ‘Hope SF’ or some such shit, the Ballot Simplification Committee read the legislation and correctly labeled it as the attack on rent control that it actually was. Not this year.
I’m an English teacher too, girls
‘Golden Gate Park Stables Matching Funds’?
Bullshit, ladies. It is privatization of the public stables and you know it completely. All anyone has to do is to look at the model of the Swells plans sitting in a case at the restaurant across from Ocean Beach (also privatized).
‘Parking for Neighborhoods’?
Horseshit (notice how I mix my manure?), ladies. This is to add 100,000 cars and destroy the environment.
‘Small Business Assistance Center’?
Donkey shit, girls. This is a boondoggle designed to provide jobs for the staff of the Taxi Commission whose paycheks will be inked out in the MTA measure on the same ballot. The last thing we need is another agency staffed by poison-pen political hacks like Jordanna Thigpen.
‘Requiring a public hearing on ballot initiatives submitted by mayor or four supervisors’?
Elephant shit, girls. To make it honest, it should read:
‘Giving Downtown business interests an advantage
by not requiring them to have any public hearings
at all, whatsoever and anytime before adding any
items to the ballot but … “requiring a public hearing
on ballot initiatives submitted by mayor or 4 supes.’
‘Renewal of Library Preservation Fund’
Whale shit, ladies (which, as you know, is at the bottom of the ocean and thus, the lowest of all shit). This one is the wallapalooza of em all and shows how far the Ballot Simplification Committee has strayed into becoming yet another arm of Jim Sutton and his legions.
This should read:
‘Legalizing Jim Sutton’s theft of public funds for past decade. Removing public control of the Public Library system completely.’
So, of 9 measures out there (3 Ordinances and 6 Charter changes), I find myself supporting 4 and damning the above 5. Those that I favor:
‘Emissions Reduction and Transit Reform’
Actually does what it says.
‘Limiting hold-over service by members of board and commissions’
It’s a positive scandal that some of these assholes have been screwing the public for (some of them) up to 20 years or more.
‘Requiring mayoral participation in monthly board meetings’
Now if we could just require him to do honest press conferences.
‘Retirement benefits for airport police officers’
Take care of public employees if you want to demand they take care of you.
4 days til carriage becomes a pumpkin
Marc Salomon called this morning speculating that Chris Daly’s announced tour of the Bay View could presage an entry to the race for Mayor.
A Gypsy fortune teller in Russia says that Matt Gonzalez has actually already entered the race but is running in another dimension.
Ross Mirkarimi is rumored to have purchased a large box of tampons at Safeway which has led some to believe that it is now “my time.
Dream on.
I’m all you got.
You’re fucked.
