I’ll get back to the cops. The more you look at them, you have to shake your head in abject shame. We really do have the worst run major police department in the United States. And, the fault lies with Gavin Newsom. Reformer? My ass.

I’m rebuilding my body like some kind of old car you drag out of a garage or barn or out of the field. You ever do that? Hey, I’m 63 and I haven’t done any serious workouts for 10 years.

Shit freezes up. Shit dissipates and has to be replanted in soil that is no longer volcanic. Will the fan belt snap with the first turnover? I’ve gone from 5 leg-ups and push-ups to 20 of each in 16 workouts since I started.

You have to be my age to appreciate the epiphany when you realize that perhaps you really can reclaim your body from the years in the garage and the barn and the open field.

Generally speaking, I’m beat to shit, but let me tell you, there’s a spring in my step missing since the early 90’s and when I’m jogging, I can flitter across the street with 1 second left on the walk signals. Plus, I get to be in the middle of the mayoral campaign with a ringside seat. Things couldn’t be better unless I had a … you get the idea.

Following the same exact pattern which occurred (because thousands of us bonded together) … the same pattern that happened with Mark Sanchez, who went from being censored by a lying Downtown majority School Board, to becoming its revered President within 18 months, Chris Daly will be the President of the Board of Supervisors within 18 months.

Mirkarimi is pissed at Daly and he wouldn’t commit to a vote that is still a year and a half out. However, in a conversation in his office where I sought Luke Thomas and John Han, the Mirkster was intrigued with the possibility that this could happen. The Mirk didn’t rule out the scenario and he and Daly should make up for the good of us all and Matt’s coming campaign. As for the Board Presidency? Here’s how it goes.

Newly elected supervisor, Eric Mar has always been a supporter of and supported by Chris Daly. Much better relations here for the new Board prez than anyone had with the irrepressibly unpredictable Jake McGoldrick.

David Ho, newly elected supervisor is an old ally of Daly’s having worked closely with him in campaigns going all the way back to before the Gonzalez ’03 run.

Ross will get Finance Chair out of this (and, he’ll be succeeding Daly in 2010 as 4th consecutive Progressive Board President) and he deserves it.

The newly elected supervisor will be either Krissy Keefer (benefiting from her deep and long neighborhood connections and the in-fighting of the male Latino candidates) or Mark Sanchez. Both are Daly allies.

John Avalos will put his friend and former boss over the top in his first vote at the Board.

George Davis and Wilma Pang have one thing in common. That would be that they both want you to vote for Gavin Newsom for mayor. Despite the fact that they’re running against him. Also, like myself, they were the only people who had actually ponied up the 5k application fee and necessary other paperwork to be on the Fall ballot for Mayor of San Francisco. So far that is. It could be a huge field by August 10th, but I’m doubting it.

Uh huh, Samson Wong wrote in Asian Week on this last Friday the 13th that when Newsom heard that Pang was entering the race, he called to ask: “Are you running against me?�?

To which Wong reports that Pang replied: “Not necessarily.�? She thus, joined candidate, George Davis who wants to run naked in Golden Gate Park (this is illegal?) and wants you to vote for him first and Gavin second too.

Yep, that would do it for Gavin’s attempt to cover his Asian flank since they’re pissed at him for attacking the only Asian on the Board of Supervisors.

Gavin already has Pang running and calling for her supporters to vote for the Gavster second. Jew can get his revenge by running himself and buddy Calvin Louie for mayor under the same platform that won him the supe’s seat in District #4: “Only vote for Chinese!�?

Really, that would take the Chinese vote away from Newsom and Gonzalez (who’ll run if he still wants to face anyone). It would take the Chinese vote out of the equation and Gonzalez would smash Newsom. But, don’t listen to me.
