Bulldog 2007-Article 96

(6-20-07)

Peskin silencing SF voters?

(late Thursday hearing follows trend)

“This hearing shall constitute the opportunity
for public comment that is

legally required

under the California Government Code section 54954.3
and San Francisco Adminstrative Code section 67.15(a)
prior to the Board of Supervisors’ adoption of the
Annual Budget for the 2007-2008 Fiscal Year.

This hearing is tomorrow at 5pm in the Board Chambers.      The key part there is the ‘legally required’ thing.       That’s the bare minimum and it has become Aaron Peskin’s mantra.      Simply put, the guy does everything he can to move legislation favorable to Downtown business interests, the rich and their allies  …  move the slanted budget as fast as possible with as little public input as possible.       Normally, this hearing lasts from 12 to 15 hours.       I’m betting Peskin’s ‘Budget Monte’ will so confuse activists that the entire hearing will not last an hour.       And, members of the public will be allotted no more than 2 minutes each to speak.     Aaron laid the groundwork.

First, get rid of anyone who might slow down the process for further public review.       Thus, you get Peskin dumping Daly as Chair of Budget and Finance because Daly asks too many questions of the interests who have captured Aaron’s allegiance.

Peskin’s moves are a threat to the health and welfare of the citizens of our fair City.       He buried the time-release bomb budgets of the Redevelopment and Treasure Island authorities between raises for honest nurses and muni employees.      He damned near got by with burying the cop MOU as well but Ammiano, Dufty, Maxwell, Mirkarimi, Daly and Sandoval sent the beast back to committee.

In another parliamentary move, Peskin arranged to have himself voting last to drive the final nail into the coffin of open discussion of the cop contract.       However, when the vote got to him it was already on its way back to committee for further study with a 6-4 vote.      Peskin quickly cast a useless vote on the positive side after first joining an Elsbernd led charge to keep the matter away from committee and, particularly, the Public Safety Committee.      After the vote, a Fog City Journal interview has POA chief, Gary Delagnes accusing Peskin of “flip-flopping on the contract.      I’m certain that Peskin must have reassured him later that his vote was simply a ploy and that he’ll do everything in his power to limit more scrutiny of, for instance, the structure of the ‘mandatory’ drug testing provisions of the pact.

My point is that Aaron Peskin no longer works for the average citizen.      Not one single bit.      Cops are beating the shit out of people because no one is stopping them.       Someone needs to look into this and see if, like elsewhere, steroids are a part of the problem.      Peskin, Phil Ginsberg and DHR director, Micki Callhan did everything they could (including Peskin’s virtual subterfuge scheduling of that MOU) to get the cops through another 4 years without steroids testing.       Their actions will certainly result in more busted skulls (possibly deaths) if the contract is passed in its present form.       This is bad government and in some future legal proceeding, some lawyer for a secretary with a crushed brain might call this trio into court for their haste in keeping the thugs untested.        Stop the steroids now!!

And, I think the Board has figured out by now that, 6 months into his second term as Board prez, Aaron isn’t their friend either.      Watch how quickly Peskin jumps on any supe who’s down.       Jew?      Daly?     Shit, he makes the Mayor look generous.       It will only get worse as  Nancy’s hubby takes on the olive wreath and toga he has so long desired and gets the bit positioned in the mouth of his stallion.      Pulling the chariot with the wheels rimmed with sword blades right down both aisles of the supe seating..      Peskin is the back-stabbing Brutus of the Board.

“I’ve got 300 watts and I can’t hear my stereo!!

(Jens addresses jackhammer guy)

Krissy Keefer got back from Tibet and trekked over to Jens’ ‘World’s Smallest Nightclub’ last evening with me and Luke and Elaine from FCJ.       Jens was relating stories about the sounds he hears through his windows over O’Farrell at Leavenworth  …  3 murders within last month or so  …  street repairs (see above)  …  drug dealers and hookers fighting each other  …  cops busting them  …  Keefer listened, then compared the situation here with the one she’d experienced while ‘vacationing’ in Tibet and Nepal:

“There was shit all over the narrow roads.
Small children stood and begged next to traffic.
They live on top of generations of garbage.
And, we complain about our squeaky-clean streets.

Wow.      The Tenderloin is ‘squeaky-clean?      Frankly, if I ever go on a vacation, I won’t go to a place that makes the TL look like OZ.     We kept on dissecting her trip and bringing her up to date on the latest antics of our own local political scene.       She’s amazing.      Managed to drop 15 lbs trekking at 15,000 feet.

I gave her the fifth of good Mexican tequila Alexandra Jones brought back from Mexico a couple of months ago.       The one I’d envisioned she and Matt Gonzalez drinking as he apologized and they mended fences.        Ain’t gonna happen.       Turns out, Matt thinks his record with her won’t hurt him in his run for Mayor this year.      We’ll see about that.       Won’t we?

Newsom’s drug use

I can see why the Mayor can’t force the cops to get tested for drugs.        Hell, they might ask him to get tested.      Wait!      That’s not a bad idea.        I suggested to Daly that he invite Gavin into a ‘Piss-Off’ and ‘Blood-letting’ in which they are both tested for drugs along with Officer Joe Serna.       That should clear this all up.      Still waiting for answers.       Oh yeah, be sure to test everyone for Oxycontin.      I’m told by some that it is Gavin’s drug of choice.       Let’s clear this up and get these ugly rumors behind us Gavin.

“It’s nobody’s fault.
But, we needed someone to blame.
And, it’s your turn.

‘Hell’s Angel’

(Blue Angel crashed into Marina Middle School)

The Blue Angels fly here because the citizens of SF refused to dock the Battleship Missouri here in 1986.        Dianne Feinstein got super-pissed and she’s still pissed.       That’ why she keeps pushing the Battleship Iowa from all angles.       Failing that, Feinstein and her mega-defense invested (except for an orphange or two in Tibet – what’s up with that, Dick?)  …  hubby and URS big wig, Richard Blum  …  every year they put the lives of countless San Franciscans at risk by flying fuel-laden, high speed jet aircraft 100’ over the City at great risk to all.       If they ever crash, I pray that they crash into her house in Pacific Heights.      Now that, that would be Karma.

Daly is right on this issue.      It should go on the ballot.      I’d like to see Newsom running in favor of this aerial NASCAR demonstration.     Hey, I was stationed on an aircraft carrier (the Enterprise) when I was in the Navy and those planes are unbelievably dangerous.      The average age of a deckhand on an aircraft carrier is 19.      No one older is dumb enough to get close to them.

Mayor offers PG&E Pacific Ocean

(City Attorney likes idea)

San Francisco has 5 trenches in the Bay that could easily each support pollution-free tidal power generators turning out 2,000 megawatts of power each.      That’s more than 10 times San Francisco’s needs.       In a crushing blow to environmentalism, Mayor Newsom announced he wants to hand control of the rights to mine this power to the power company that has controlled our Hetch-Hetchy power illegally for over a half century.      We’ll be talking about this as the mayoral campaign heats up.

Bulldog Chat Room to re-open

I don’t like anonymous posts on chat rooms.      They’re billed as a device to allow public officials and their minions to post honest opinions without being fired or voted out of office.       In reality, they’re used as a shield for cowards.

Running an online public forum is hard work.      And, time consuming.       That’s why, though I love to gab informally, I’ve stayed with lurking on the ‘bad boards’  (Wall & Junto) and occasional post to Sfist.      But, even I have standards and eventually these local chat rooms fall victim to the same anonymous posters.       Now, Sfist has yielded control of their tone/content/ambiance (not certain of right word) to the same trolls who have destroyed every chat room since Polifix.     When the staff there allowed a post to stand suggesting the murder of a supervisor’s wife and child, I quit em.      So, I floated the idea with several friends of resurrecting the Bulldog Salon forum.

Today, I got unsolicited emails informing me that Rob Taylor, June Young, Jessica Murdok, Mastergiza, Chalacuna and Vibrator 557 wanted to join the Salon chat  …  how’d they hear about it?       Thing is, they’re all the same person and search back to the same machine.

Sorry.      ID will be required.      I’ll use a standard form and we’ll keep a tight shop.      I’ll let you know when we re-float the Bulldog Salon chat boat.

Enuff already!
