Watching City Hall #450
(4-4-06)
Bulldog Preview of today’s Full Board
(lies, pretenses & poses)
Item #14 Protection of employee rights … prohibiting discrimination
speaking out, filing a complaint …
You couldn’t get much more hypocritical than this one.  This is the same Board that allowed Mohammed Nuru to fire 38 laborers who blew the whistle on him for helping stuff the ballot boxes for Newsom in the last mayoral contest.   Where’s the teeth in this one?  It has none.  When will charges be brought against Phil Ginsberg for designing a loophole under which whistle-blowers remain fired?   Ain’t gonna happen.   You lose: 11-0.
Item #21 Three and a half million in “Unappropriated General Fund
Balance to go to Gary Delugnuts and Margaret Broadbutt.
If the City has that much money unappropriated, it should go to rehire the whistleblowers at DPW.   Broadbutt jumping to the head of the line for reserve funds is a very bad sign.   Her department is new and every elected official in town is scared shitless of this battleaxe sent here by the Spartacus Society at Oberlin College in Ohio.   This means that from now on, year after year, Maggie will invent contracts for ‘security’ or whatever designed to tap into reserve funds for her small army of hacks.   And, a cowardly Board will give the money to her instead of keeping shelter beds available in the rain.  Money goes to Broadbutt and Delugnuts with a suuuckking sound:  11-0
Item #22  690k for Shelter Beds.  Just til we get the Arc built.
Opposition for this one will come from a desiccated piece of shit named Walter Shorenstein who owns half of the buildings within a block of where this shelter is scheduled to close.    Walter will use any method necessary to clear poor people who block his developments.   Anyone here old enough to remember when the Filipino vets challenged him at the old ‘I’ Hotel and the place ‘accidentally’ burned with one fatality and total terror instilled in the immigrants?  You win this one in an 8-3 vote with Elsbernd, Ma & Pier acknowledging who brung em to da dance.
Item #24  Expand Mills Act (to include more) “qualified historical
properties.   Sponsored by Supervisor Pier
You may rest assured that this legislation is designed to cost you a bunch of money through some kind of bogus designation of property owned by the billionaires who have Pier in their pocket.   Rest of Board (with glazed eyes) joins Pier in picking your pockets:  11-0
Items #28 and #29 Handing half of the newly found ‘surplus’ to the two
departments who have proven themselves less
willing to spend funds as dictated.
No one on the Board will ask why DPW has used state gas tax money earmarked for street repairs (over 20 million a year) for mostly curb cuts instead.   Only Park & Rec under Director Yabadabadoo wastes money more than DPW.   You lose 11-0.   The Mayor will have a photo-op of him watching a single pothole filled and another of him pushing a small black child in the single swing set installed in a Bayview playground.
Items #35 and #47 plus Correspondence from Office of Economic
Analyst outlining their initial ‘Economic Impact
Report’.
This is Pier carrying water for Film Commission prima donna, Stephanie Coyote who as Executive Director of the SF Film Commission will be the “sole liaison between City departments and City Departments.    This one has the bureaucrats cringing.   It was Coyote who chased out long-time staff a few months back, tossed slanderous charges after them and tried to blind a subsequent hearing with the star power of hubbie, Peter and friend, Sean Penn.
As far as I can figure, this is also the first appearance on the scene of the SFSOS sponsored ‘Office of Economic Analyst’.   Their ‘Economic Impact Report’, designed to pre-empt any subsequent Board Budget Analyst study has worked hand-in-glove with Downtown stooge, Pier with this end-run around traditional vetting agencies including the Board of Supervisors.    Coyote will hand City money in the form of forgiven fees to her friends with the blessings of the SFSOS wonks (whom you now pay to screw you).   No one on the Board has a clue.   You lose 11-0
Item #52Â Â Urging President Bush to stop warantless surveillance of the
American people.
This from a Board poised to give Gav’s Google Guys & George’s Government Goons total access to your emails, your shopping habits, your medical history and even your location (if you carry a cell phone) from morning til nite.   Nevertheless, Elsbernd will hear the distant trumpet of the Republican Party and vote against any restrictions upon the new Gestapo.   You win 10-1 … kind of … they’ll desert you on the Google deal just as they did on Comcast.
Correspondence 060338Â Â Sale of Surplus Property (Lots #39 & #40 in
Assessor’s Block 1334)
Distrust anything from the Department of Real Estate.   What is this property?   Surely it’s not the old fire house on Oak Street next to the Panhandle?  It’s not identified.
Correspondence from Ahimsa Sumchai - Violent deaths & altercations
at Laguna Honda Hospital.
Robert Haaland and SEIU sand-bagged 8 of the Board’s 11 members with a battle cry of: “Fuck the old people! and: “Up with gang bangers!   He also snowed the Board of the SFPO.
“You haven’t lived til you’ve seen a tattooed gang banger wheel into the TV room at Laguna Honda with his brothers and take the place over.   Thus spoke an LHH aide in the middle of the travesty.
Just as Board President, Aaron Peskin stared without emotion at a Falun Gong practitioner who told of the Chinese government death camp where prisoner’s organs are ripped out and the rest of their bodies (some still living) are tossed into ovens, he’ll turn a cold stare at all of the doctors and nurses and aides from LHH who plead for protection.   As will 7 other members of the Board.  Hopefully, the Board’s only senior citizen will call for hearings.
Worst liar of the month:Â Â Port Commissioner, Mike Hardeman
Two months in a row for Mike.  Last month he talked glowingly about why Walter Shorenstein and his family were the salt of the earth despite their decimation of their Tenderloin holdings and destruction of the surrounding neighborhood.   This month Mike says he received “600 calls favoring bringing the U.S.S. Iowa to San Francisco and only 6 against.   Hardeman is a liar.   And, he’s a union man.  Talk about labor brass being in bed with management.
Well, there you go:
